A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
